As a computer enthusiast and online gamer I’ve always preferred hard-wired networks over Wi-Fi for their reliability and speed, but disliked the trip-hazard caused by the cables.
In 2015 I finally had the opportunity to rip up the floors, drill through the walls and cable up my house. This was an exciting project as it was a change from my usual desk-bound work and presented new challenges in spatial awareness and brute force.
I learnt a lot from the experience, including how to punch-down cat6 connectors, how silicon spray can help squeeze an extra cable or two through what looks like a full hole, and that my wife is better at lifting flooring that I am!
