AHDB Dairy Breeding+

In 2014 Rade were asked by AHDB Dairy to look at the design of the Breeding+ website.  The design was looking dated as the original build was completed by Rade over 10 years earlier, and a redesign allowed for some additional filtering functionality to be added.

To provide the required filtering and to improve perceived page load times we decided to use AngularJS and Ajax to provide a staged load of functionality and then data.  Using AngularJS also allowed us to easily implement the filtering on the client’s browser, thus avoid reloading filtered data from the server.  Finally, to speed up initial data display we implemented an infinite scroll mechanism so that data is rendered to the report table as the user scrolls down the page.

I was the lead developer and was responsible for the implementation of the functionality improvements and all AngularJS and database work.  I worked closely with AHDB Dairy’s data partner EGenes to ensure that they supplied data was interpreted and displayed correctly and that the new functionality was live to coincide with a data upload at the start of a new reporting period in December 2014.
