UKOUG Conferences

The UK Oracle User Group (UKOUG) contracted Rade to build an online conference management tool in 2006.  The website allows the full conference process to be managed by UKOUG online, starting with abstract submissions from potential speakers, through judging of abstracts to score them for selection, paper selection and scheduling, exhibitor registration and guide biography entry, personalised delegate agenda, and session feedback from delegates after the conference.

Due to the size of the website the initial build was done over a 9 month period with phased launch to provide the required functionality in time for each part of the management process.

I was lead developer on the project and was responsible for database design and overall build. I worked closely with the project lead at UKOUG to ensure each phase was specified correctly before build, and to deal with any issues during testing.

While some functional changes have been made over the years the system has proved its strength and resilience by hosting up to 4 conferences each year since 2006, and is still being used today.
